The Chateau Versailles is located on downtown's Golden Square Mile, just 16 miles from Dorval Airport and 40 miles from Mirabel Airport. This hotel just like all great hotels has a story to tell. Château Versailles stands on grounds originally owned by a religious order of distinguished French aristocrats known as the Gentlemen of St. Sulpice. At the turn of the 18th Century it consisted of a fort and château, with landscaped gardens and a reflecting pond, designed by Abbé Vachon de Belmont in honor of the original Château Versailles, built by French King Louis XIV. It wasn't until 1958 that Marie-Louise and André Villeneuve turned the vintage townhouse at 1659 Sherbrooke Street West into a small hotel, called "Versailles Lodge".<br> The family later purchased three adjacent townhouses, thus creating "Château Versailles" as it now stands, bringing together four distinct homes, styles and histories. The heat from the fires spreads over into the Le Boudoir.
